Our story
On 22 December 2000, a separate company belonging to the PKP Group was established in the Tri-City - with the name of PKP Szybka Kolej Miejska w Trójmieście Sp. z o. o. (Rapid Urban Railway). The firm commenced its activities on 1 July 2001. PKP S.A. was its first shareholder, and as a result of the process of municipalisation, the current owners of the firm are: the Public Treasury, PKP S.A., Pomorskie Voivodship and the municipal communes of: Gdańsk, Gdynia, Sopot and Pruszcz Gdański.


Company’s objects of activity
PKP Szybka Kolej Miejska w Trójmieście Sp. z o.o. (SKM) is conducting activities in three parallel areas:

• passenger transport;
• managing the railway line number 250 between Gdańsk Główny and Rumia;
• third party service provision.

SKM is a municipal and regional passenger train operator for the Pomorskie Voivodship. Any weekday sees about 250 trains operated by SKM, which in total carry over 100 000 passengers a day.


Areas of development
Increase in travelling comfort through the modernisation of the existing railway stock. Increase of the service and safety levels through the expansion of the visual and audio passenger information system, CCTV network covering the railway infrastructure and the trains themselves.
Working on the SKM train travel reliability thanks to the modernisation and expansion of the railway line number 250.
Maximising the company’s income via the best management methods for the existing assets and the introduction of the newest passenger service technologies.
