Polish State Railways Joint Stock Company (PKP JSC) is a mother company in PKP Group. It was established on 1 January 2001 as a result of commercialization of the former state-owned enterprise Polish State Railways. The Treasury is its the only shareholder. Execution of the restructuring process is among substantial tasks of PKP S.A. Organization restructuring is one of elements of the process. Companies that run transport operation business and companies related to managing rail infrastructure were separated.

Activities of the Polish State Railways Joint Stock Company are management of a capital group called the PKP Group as well as the property including development and sale of housing and non-housing fixed property, geodetic and cartographic activity. Real Estate Management Divisions, Railway Stations Division and Health Care Division also functions within the PKP JSC organization structure.
