The Land Transport Chamber of Commerce is an economic self-government organization operating since 1995 under the Act of May 30, 1989 on economic chambers of commerce.

The Chamber was established to integrate dispersed enterprises, create a stronger platform for expressing and protecting the interests of the companies functioning on this specific market.

The members of our Chamber are enterprises involved in the rail transport acting within industrial sectors created according to their requirements. At present there are four industrial sectors in the Chamber:

• Rail wagons and Shipping
• Rail Carriers
• Railway Engineering
• Rolling Stock Manufacturers and Repair

Works and the Chamber activities are performed in accordance with a schedule annually approved by the General Meeting of Shareholders and current needs of its members. The main objective of our everyday work is to remove regulating barriers that members of the Chamber come across in the course of their actions.

The Chamber represents enterprises involved in the rail transport before central government bodies and all kinds of domestic and foreign organizations having impact on the functioning of these enterprises.

Within the framework of its activity the Chamber cooperates with the following organizations: European Rail Freight Association

The European Rail Freight Association with its seat in Brussels was set up in 2002 on the initiative of the enterprises and unions operating in the rail freight sector. The Chamber is a founder member of this Association.

The Association was established to support the entrepreneurs operating on the rail freight market on the European Union agenda. This task is realized through exerting pressure on the European Union legislation in the scope of protection and full consideration of rail freight carriers interests.

International Union of Private Wagons The UIP main goal is the improvement of the rail freight in Europe based on joint experience of its members, and at the same time increasing the safety and minimizing damage to the environment. This is achieved through dealing with technical, maintenance, economic, legal and scientific issues directly or indirectly related to private freight wagons used across Europe, which is to contribute to the improvement of safety and reliability. The Chamber is a member of this Organization. Association of German Transport Undertakings (VDV - Verband Deutscher Verkehrsunternehmen)

VDV associates public transport enterprises, local bus transportation and rail enterprises. Out of 600 members of the Association about 180 are enterprises operating on the rail freight market. VDV (Verband Deutscher Verkehrsunternehmen e. V.) as an industrial association deals with:

• promotion of the industry’s interests in politics, e.g. in legislation processes it expresses opinions on bills and regulations,
• exchanging experience and working out norms and standards for railway industry, public transport through 16 expert commissions and lots of working teams,
• promotion of rail freight, e.g. through the Internet site, www.gueterbahnen.com
• promotion of public transport through the campaign on the Internet site, www.deutschland-bleibt-mobil.de
• cooperation with similar organizations in Europe (like ERFA and UITP).
• organization of conventions, seminars and other events for the industry.

During the „Innotrans 2008” fairs VDV and LTCoC are supposed to sign a declaration of cooperation within the scope of the improvement of the quality of the Polish and German railway transport.
